About me
Monica's focus has been in both traditional and non-traditional outdoor education. As a backcountry guide, classroom teacher and an outdoor preschool director, she has always been passionate about sharing the joy and value of outdoor and nature-based education with students, teachers and the wider community. She now helps run an urban farming project at St. Joseph Center of Arkansas that aims to increase local food production and access. She also recently began working with schools as an outdoor education consultant and is the 2025 AEEA Board President. She is an avid outdoors person, spending most of her personal time hiking, backpacking, climbing and gardening, among several other outdoor interests. Monica has been either guiding or teaching outdoors in some capacity, for more than 25 years.
